We recently received this note from a SUNY customer that engaged our Professional Services team for a Netbackup Upgrade. Here is what he had to say.
Michele,
I just wanted to thank you again for your help in upgrading the Netbackup environment. The upgrade has been very smooth and we have seen some significant benefits, including: -much better visibility of the environment through Netbackup Operations Manager-significant reduction in the recovery time of mail. -ability/knowledge transfer of how to quickly update Unix based clients One of the primary reasons for upgrading was our desire to store NDMP backups to disk, which was introduced to Netbackup in version 6.5.2. Yesterday I configured the mail backup policy to go to disk. The backup ran without a hitch. This morning I tested a restore from last night’s NDMP backup and found that restores from our SAN to the mail server run at least three times faster than from tape. The restore this morning ran at a transfer speed of that fluctuated between 33,000 KB per second to 55,000 KB per second. Restores from tape were running at about 14,000 Kb per second. And of course most importantly the backup and restore worked as expected. I also have not seen any issues introduced with the upgrade. Backups are also running without issue against our other clients, including the clients still running the older 6.0 client. Thanks very much for your help and for making the upgrade run so well.

Education
ServerWare has built such a strong reputation in the educational market in New York State.
In one particular project working with a K-12 school system in a large city, ServerWare was engaged to architect, procure, and implement a server, storage, and power infrastructure, along with Oracle database licenses to reliably run their application. In addition, we deployed an ERP system from Peoplesoft. Then we racked and configured all the hardware and software involved to smooth the way for the Oracle database installation.
Commercial
Due to ServerWare's reputation and experience in serving manufacturing and commercial businesses, we were chosen to assist a major healthcare insurance provider in properly architecting hardware and deploying two critical applications for data warehousing and medical management.
ServerWare’s challenge was to properly size a solution that would provide the scalability required. There was little room for error given that the applications and data involved had an impact on the insurance provider’s employees company-wide.
As a result of our efforts, our customer has improved communications with vendors and clients, and a stronger, reinforced infrastructure.
Government
A large government agency came to ServerWare for assistance
in architecting and configuring a great number of servers. Their
deadline was extremely tight – less than a two week timeframe.
In addition to a tight deadline, there were several additional challenges as the project unfolded including: Many change requests due to last minute modifications in complex configurations; and an 11th hour change in where this large server order should be sent, due to space limitations at the agency’s facilities.
ServerWare was able to secure the more than 60 systems required, and had them delivered immediately upon receipt of the order. This allowed us to adhere to a signed guarantee to deliver by the deadline.
To address the exceptional shipping logistics, ServerWare directed the server shipment to one of the agency’s receiving facility in another location. Then we, along with members of the customer's own IT staff, provided the muscle to move these systems to a storage facility for staging prior to deployment.
Throughout this massive system rollout, ServerWare was adept at accommodating all installation due dates and working in highly secured facilities. Much of the customer's post sale satisfaction was due to our ability and flexibility to reschedule and revise the scope of work to fit changes in project and deployment site needs as they arose.
